From the 30 April, Defra will be introducing new import controls at UK borders including the introduction of checks on medium risk animal products, plants, plant products and high risk food and feed of non-animal origin from the EU.

The below explains how drivers will be notified about possible inspections -

• Use your Goods Movement Reference to check if you need to report for an inspection - https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/driver-inspection-notification/start
• Check your phone for messages telling you to drive to the BCP for an inspection
• Check the customs information screens, where available, onboard the ferry or train. The colour orange next to your vehicle registration shows you need to drive to the BCP.
