Towards the end of each year, operators review their prices. The Freightlink team have obtained 2026 operator rates. There are also some changes to EU ETS and Dover Strait port charges.

🍃 100% EU ETS carbon tax - From 1st January 2026, ferry operators will need to buy allowances for 100% of their carbon emissions as part of the Emissions Trading System. This increase from 70% (since Jan 1st 2025) means that ETS surcharges on ferry tickets will also be increasing.

🪙 Dover Strait ferry port charges - From 1st January 2026, DFDS, Irish Ferries and P&O Ferries will be introducing a new Dover Strait port charge.
